Chocolate Rats

The kids and I went on a scavenger hunt downtown the other day.  The weather was beautiful..maybe 69 degrees, and we were in a fall mood..so we searched for black cats, spiders, the number 13..and a grave with the name mary, among other things...when we finished we stopped at the chocolate tree for a treat.  Dax got a chocolate candy corn lollipop, and Nova got a Chocolate rat on  a stick!

Dax is Four!

Dax had a great 4th birthday.  He had a birthday breakfast at Blackstones...the next day we took him to Chuck.E.Cheese to play skee ball..and on the next day he had a little party with his favorite friends!  I can't believe he is already 4!!

Sip and Spin

My sweet..wild..funny..brilliant..handsome.. lovable boys

Dax's Masterpiece(s)

By the time Nova was three, he was drawing detailed diagrams of the human skeletal system, nearly accurate maps of the United States, his name ..all over EVERYTHING (the wall, the bed, the dresser, the bathtub..) and amazingly realistic drawings of animals.  So, I have always been a little discouraged that Dax has never drawn anything recognizable, he is after all the one with the more creative disposition.  Imagine my surprise and total joy when Dax brought me these three drawings this morning!  Just yesterday, these same three things were just scribbles...  today, he has clearly drawn a rocket, a cat and a balloon! Hooray!!

My first Sunday Scavenger hunt!

so very grown...

Nova will be starting fourth grade next week, and I can't believe that he will be going into junior high in only 2 years...time does fly by so quickly!  I remember Nova's first day of preschool so clearly.  he was so excited to see us and tell us everything that happened when we came to pick him up.  "Did you have fun in school today?" I asked him "Yeah!" he said with a twinkle in his eye and a grin from ear to ear "Well..what did you do?"  He looked up at me..so proud..and said "ate dirt and peed my pants!"

Farm Boys

Both of my boys belong in the country!  They long for the space, the privacy and the freedom that country living would afford them.  Dax needs a place to run wild, and Nova needs a quiet place to contemplate and ponder.  it's not often that we get to enjoy such peace, so we always enjoy a trip to the local farms.  This was an especially fun trip, because Dax is finally old enough to appreciate picking, preparing and eating the vegetables.
I just love the colors of a summer garden!

Rock the Shot

*photo challenge*

My husband loves this photo for the rock the shot august silhouette challenge because he thinks he looks like the president. This was taken in our hotel room, while he prepared mentally for the Lowcountry Food Bank's charity event "chefs feast" in Charleston, SC
